I know your shelves are full but these three are a must have. And since I'm convinced that they will both edify, challenge and inspire you I'm giving away two copies of each book. Just drop a line in the comment section and tell me why you want the book and why you believe they're important in your life and ministry right now.

What books you say? The first is Experiencing Truth by our brother Anthony Carter with contributions from Michael Leach and Ken Jones. Experiencing Truth presents the biblical basis for choosing and attending a church and even offers helpful wisdom on sermon preparation, a sermon outline and sample orders of worship. You can check it out as well as order by going here.

Our next contribution comes from the pen (or perhaps cpu) of Thabiti Anyabwile. It's entitled 'What Is A Healthy Church Member' and is a follow up to Mark Dever's book 'What Is A Healthy Church'. Like its title this book will outline what a healthy church member is. Drop by here for more info.

The last is 'Where Are All The Brothers - Straight Answers To Men's Questions about the Church. This significant work is from our brother Eric Redmond and tackles many of the reasons African-American men avoid church like the plague. More info is available here.

Please take the time to support these brothers and their efforts in writing books that speak to many of the needs and issues within the church in general and black church in particular.

Hi Pastor Lance, I am interested in any one of the above titles because. I have a desire to see biblical theology, promoted by black pastor in the black church, as well as in the white (other)churches, I would like to able to share with my black friends who do not know much about reform theology and with my white friends the wealth of biblical thinking from a black perceptive. Most seem to only know about the Jakes and the Longs of TBN fame. I want brothers and sisters to start to smell the T.U.L.I.P's. I know that the books I have read so far have been very informative and encouraging. I have a few friends who are struggling with reform theology. I would definitely love to share more resources with them from a black perspective. To God Be the Glory, Rodney 1

Pastor Lance: I want the books because I want to read more books by reformed blacks. I feel it is necessary to read the literary, doctrinal, and theological contributions that blacks are making to the reformed tradition. I also would like to be throughly equipped with knowledge on how to share the truths of reformed theology with my family. I think that these authors will help me explain things in a way where they will see the light and cling to sound doctrine. Sadly, most of them are only familiar with black ministers and authors who appear on TBN. It would be great to share books with my family by sound black ministers and theologians. As an aspiring pastor and soon to be MDiv student, these books would help me in my studies, sermon preparations, and evangelizing to blacks and others. Thanks Pastor Lance for laying up treasures in heaven with this free book offer. Grace and peace to you! -Lloyd 3

I would like 'What Is A Healthy Church Member' because I'm tired of sitting on the sidelines and playing around with God. I'm very much aware of my own sins and want God to give me a new way of walking, talking and thinking. 4

Nick Birdsong 1585 Church Ave. SE Apt. 76 Jacksonville, AL 36265 (850) 345-2699 I am a 24-year-old brother from Tampa, FL currently residing in Jacksonville, AL while employed at the Anniston Star as a preps sports writer. I attend Anniston Bible Church in Anniston, AL. I desire all three of these books because I think each of them can help to play a vital role in sparking a return to a biblical Christianity in America (What is a Healthy Church Member?") and specifically in the African-American construct in the case of "Experiencing the Truth" and "Where Are All the Brothers". As a brother who was already making plans to purchase all three books (even on my meager wages) LOL) I'll state my case on how my life and the ministry it is can benefit from owning these three titles. "Experiencing Truth"-Well, quite simply God has transformed my life by placing me in the way of Godly people who have a heart to first of all embody the truths of Scripture in their own lives, disciple me and show me what a real biblical body of believers looks like. God has given me a heart and the opportunity to accurately communicate the same truths of the one true God as evidenced in His Holy Bible, that my white brothers and sisters in Christ have pointed me toward, to people who look like me. Black folks are oftentimes left spiritually immature due to a lack of a biblical understanding of how God's people operate, specifially as a church. I'm certain this book will provide that much needed information. ""What is a Healthy Church Member"-And I kid you not. Upon hearing that this book would be released months ago. I already had a strong desire to read it for my own benefit so that I could be a stronger member and better equipped conduit for The Gospel at my own local church. After attending the Resolved conference in Palm Springs, CA. I got the idea to approach my associate pastor with the idea of starting a small group (or a few depending on how well the idea is received) to read through this book together. I was also inspired by Ephesians 4:11-12 (just this morning as a matter of fact to do the same thing). What would it look like for a healthy church to be filled with healthy church members? "Where Are All the Brothers"-I thoroughly believe this book would help me in everyday evangelism from the barbershop to ball games. On a personal note, I wanted to purchase this book and challenge my father (who believes he saved yet says things like, "Salvation is like a bank account. You just have to go and get it", "faith and logic don't mix" and "If I died today, I don't know where my sould would go but I'm hoping it'd go to be with the Creator (He doesn't believe in a place called Heaven). And of course he doesn't believe it's necessary for a Christian to be connected with a local body of believers as long as they "know God for themselves". I feel this book would prepare me to better guide brothers with similar sentiments to Christ and hopefully membership in a biblically solid church. Sincerely, Nick Birdsong 1585 Church Ave. SE Apt. 76 Jacksonville, AL 36265 (850) 345-2699 5

I would like any one of the books mentioned (or one of each- LOL!!!) primarily for the purpose of giving them away. I actually work at Borders and already have a couple of my own personal copies coming in. I really could not improve upon your own (Carter, Redmond, Lewis, Anyabwile, etc) assessments of how "ungodlike" the black church is in its present state. By God's grace, and through the influence of men like yourselves, I have been illumined to the error of Word of Faith theology, hyper-Charismatic theology, and the cultural captivity that is so pervasive in the black church (as well as American Christianity in general). God has caused me to understand and love the true Gospel and Reformed Theology. I want to be able to use these books to reach many of my friends that are still captive to the errors mentioned above as well as so many individuals that I don't know that continue to be lured into churches preaching false doctrine. Ultimately, there are no Black Reformed churches in my area (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, North Carolina). Therefore, these churches preaching false doctrine are the only options for a black church in my area (or in their minds at least). I hope to be able to start a book study/small group using these books written by men that speak from our (the black) context (Hebrews 4:15) and I hope that God will move in such a way that individuals will be so convicted about the truths of the Gospel that they will be able to join a Reformed church (even if there are only white ones in my area) and/or be used to bring reform within their own church contexts (or in any other God centered fashion). I know you guys are already praying for such a move not only within the Black church but within American Evangelical Christianity at large. I covet your prayers for my area in particular considering that we don't have one Black reformed church in the area. I also ask that you pray for discernment, open doors, ideas, etc in my own life as I seek to figure out my more permanent role in our desire for revival (I am going to Seminary in the Spring after I graduate from Undergrad, but am not sure whether I am to stay at the white Reformed church I am at, move to a place where one of you guys are preaching, etc.). SOLI DEO GLORIA!!!!! 6

I'm interested in "What is a Healthy Church Member". I teach Sunday School in my church and would love to use this in my classes and also to share it with my church leaders, as I think it would be helpful to the whole body. 7

Any of these three books would be helpful to me. I've read Pastor Carter's first book twice and found it edifying. I'm eager to read his new book. I also need to read Thabiti's book because I'm afraid that I'm not a healthy church member. From listening to his sermons I know that the book will be inspiring. Thank you for giving books. 9
